When I was a young Tennessee fan in the late 90’s and early 2000’s and Vol football would have a bad game,  I remember making jokes like “I wonder if Pat Summitt can also coach football? Haha!”

And while that may have been in jest, let’s be honest, Pat was so incredible at what she did coaching women’s basketball and as a motivator that it probably would have been genuinely good to have her on the sidelines in Neyland Stadium at times.

Well, it turns out that she actually did sort of help coach football back then.

Legendary Vols wide receiver Peerless Price went on the Paul Finebaum Show on Thursday to talk about Pat’s legacy and he told a great anecdote about how she used to be brought in to talk to the football team…

So, is it a coincidence that Pat talked to Peerless and the football team and then they went on to win a national championship?

Maybe. But probably not.

All of the stories that have come out about Pat since her untimely death have been amazing and this is just another to add to that list. She was a titan and the best ever at what she did. Not to get too sappy, but Tennessee is truly lucky to have her associated with the University.
