Tennessee Vols fans did their part on Saturday to help the football program during UT's basketball game against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
2023 five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava is in Knoxville this weekend for a visit. Iamaleava is the No. 7 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class and the top quarterback on Tennessee's recruiting board.
Iamaleava was in attendance on Saturday for the UT basketball game. And the fans started chanting "We want Nico!".
If you're wondering if that chant left an impression on Nico and his family, the answer is yes.
Iamaleava's mom posted the chant on her Instagram story along with the caption "This is crazy!!!!".
Iamaleava has said multiple times during the recruiting process that he wants to sign with a program that wants him.
I don't see how he could leave Thompson-Boling Arena after hearing more than 20,000 fans chant "We want Nico" and not think that he's wanted on Rocky Top.
The Vols are battling Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Oregon for Iamaleava. He's expected to commit sometime this spring.
A lot will obviously go into his decision. But I truly believe that Tennessee Vols fans chanting his name will be a big factor in Nico's decision-making process.
