The Tennessee Vols are strongly in the mix to land one of the best players in the 2024 recruiting class.

And it's a player from Alabama.

Stealing a top recruit from the home state of one of the Vols' biggest rivals would certainly be a nice story for Tennessee.

Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney noted on Monday that Tennessee is one of four programs to watch in the battle for 2024 four-star defensive back Travaris Banks.

Oklahoma, Auburn, and Florida State are the other three programs to watch in this battle.

From Rivals.comOklahoma continues to be a major player for the Tuscaloosa (Ala.) Hillcrest four-star cornerback and a recent visit to Norman went great especially since he thinks the coaching staff is so personable and they pitched how he’d be a great fit in that defense. The Sooners, Florida State, Tennessee and Auburn are the four programs to watch closest in his recruitment.

Banks, 6-foot-2/193 lbs from Tuscaloosa, AL, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 9 safety in the nation and the No. 6 player in the state of Alabama.

The Alabama native has an offer from the Crimson Tide and he visited last fall for a game, but it's unclear how hard Nick Saban and his staff are recruiting Banks.

Tennessee needs some cornerback help and Banks looks like a guy who could play on Sundays. Landing him would be a massive get for Josh Heupel and the Vols.
