Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel showed off his sense of humor on Thursday during an appearance on 104.5 The Zone’s 3HL.

Heupel was asked by Ron Slay, one of the show’s hosts and a former Vols basketball standout, who he would take in a game-winning drive situation, himself or current Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker.

The second-year Vols head coach offered a great response that drew plenty of laughter.

Heupel said he’d take Hooker because he has the better coaching.

Heupel, by the way, was coached by Bob Stoops, Mike Leach, and Mike Mangino (who later went on to serve as the head coach at Kansas for eight seasons) during his time at Oklahoma.

This of course wasn’t any shade at those guys. It was just a fun joke from Heupel that shows his sense of humor and his genuineness.

Heupel is just an easy-to-talk to guy who can adapt to any situation. And that’s part of the reason why he’s found a lot of early success at Tennessee.
