Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker Will Anderson will likely be a top-five selection in the 2023 NFL Draft, but he was a non-factor against the Tennessee Vols this past weekend.
Anderson was held to just three tackles and zero sacks against the Vols. His name was barely mentioned during the CBS broadcast of the game.
On Monday, Anderson admitted that there was some anxiety in the Bama locker room ahead of a "big road game" against Tennessee.
Anderson's quote made the rounds on social media on Monday, eventually making its way to Vols offensive lineman Gerald Mincey, who has already become somewhat of a hero in East Tennessee after transferring from Florida prior to the 2022 season.
Mincey posted the quote on his Instagram story with a caption directed at Anderson that said "Naw fam you just suck".
If you think that's out of bounds from Mincey, I get it. But remember, Anderson is the player who said earlier this season that the other team even stepping on the field is disrespectful to him.
The intense rivalries are what make college football so much fun. And for the last 10 years, it feels like I've heard fans from all programs complaining that players on opposing teams are too friendly with each other (that happens because these players all know each other well because of social media and the recruiting process).
It's pretty clear that's not the case with Tennessee/Alabama. These two teams don't like each other and it was obvious after the Vols' big win.
As Josh Heupel said after beating Alabama on Saturday, this is college football at its best.
