NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley didn't hold back while talking about former Tennessee Vols guard Dalton Knecht on Tuesday night.
Knecht, who was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round (No. 17 overall) of the 2024 NBA Draft, made his regular season NBA debut on Tuesday night, scoring five points in 16 minutes of action.
Before the game, Barkley threw some shade at every NBA general manger who passed on Knecht during the draft.
"Listen, first of all, these NBA general managers don't have any idea what they're doing," said Barkley. "Letting the Lakers get Dalton Knecht was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. That's a bad boy right there. Dalton Knecht, remember that name, y'all."
Knecht's first regular season points likely looked familiar to Vols fans. The North Dakota native drained a three-pointer for his first career bucket in the second quarter of the Lakers' win against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Knecht was one of the most prolific scorers in the country while at Tennessee last season. And he showed that his ability to score will translate to the NBA, scoring 35 points in 32 minutes of action in the Lakers' penultimate preseason game.
