The matchup between Tennessee and Alabama in Knoxville this past weekend featured both teams wearing their home jerseys.

The dual home uniforms are something that fans on both sides have wanted to see return for a while (the last time before Saturday that both teams wore their home uniforms was in 1970).

Tennessee and Alabama will also both wear home uniforms when the two teams meet in Tuscaloosa next season.

While reviewing the game, ESPN’s Stanford Steve pointed out that he thinks the orange on Tennessee’s new Adidas uniforms is darker than the old Nike orange.

(Tennessee switched from Nike to Adidas this past summer.)

“I will say this: this Adidas Tennessee orange is a little darker than the old Nike Tennessee, orange” said Steve after the Vols’ win over the Crimson Tide. “… That Tennessee orange looked a little darker today.”

Here’s a photo of this year’s Adidas orange compared to last year’s Nike orange.

It does seem like it’s just a touch darker this year, but I think it makes the jersey “pop” a little more.
