‘I wouldn’t say it was the environment’ – Vols fans made an impact during Tennessee’s win over Alabama, but Bama QB Keelon Russell doesn’t agree
Tennessee fans were absolutely elite during the Vols’ 26-10 win over Alabama on Saturday in Neyland Stadium.
Tennessee fans were absolutely elite on Saturday during the Volunteers’ 26-10 win over Alabama.
The Crimson Tide committed five pre-snap penalties during the loss to Tennessee (three false starts and two delay of games).
Those penalties were a direct result of an incredibly loud Neyland Stadium.
Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell, who had his worst game of the season, admitted after the game that it was a tough environment, but he downplayed it having an impact on the Tide’s offense.
“It’s a tough environment,” said Russell. “But I wouldn’t say it was the environment that shook me. I wouldn’t even say it was anything that shook me.
“There was stuff in front of me that I could’ve easily took and I was forcing the ball somewhere else.”
Part of Alabama’s offensive issues on Saturday were due to playing a backup center, though Russell said that communication wasn’t an issue despite playing in front of a deafening crowd.
“The communication piece wasn’t a struggle,” said Russell. “Not to the (offensive line), nor to the receivers.”
Russell can frame the loss however he wants, but Tennessee fans absolutely affected Alabama’s offense on Saturday in Neyland Stadium.
