Former Tennessee Vols football player among those laid off by ESPN
A former Tennessee Volunteers football player will no longer be featured on ESPN.
A former Tennessee Vols football player was among those laid off by ESPN on Tuesday.
ESPN, which recently merged with NFL Network, has laid off numerous on-air personalities this week.
Former Vols defensive back Charles Davis, who previously worked for NFL Network, is among those who were laid off.
Davis is one of the most insightful analysts in football media, so it’s a surprise that he was among the layoffs.
Tennessee fans, however, will still get a chance to see Davis on TV.
The former Vol is set to take over as the lead analyst for Big Ten football games on CBS on Saturday afternoons this fall.
Davis is replacing longtime analyst Gary Danielson.
Davis will have no trouble finding another gig outside of his responsibilities with CBS. He’s a rare personality in today’s media landscape as he provides excellent X’s and O’s analysis as opposed to recycled hot takes.
