CBS Sports revealed their latest seven-round 2025 NFL mock draft on Friday and a former Tennessee Vols defender landed in a notable draft slot.

The national sports media outlet has the Kansas City Chiefs selecting Vols defensive lineman Elijah Simmons with the last pick (No. 257 overall) in the draft.

The final player in the draft is known as "Mr Irrelevant", a tradition that started nearly 50 years ago

Typically, the final player selected in the draft doesn't go on to have a fruitful NFL career, but that's not always the case.

Three years ago, the San Francisco 49ers selected Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy with the final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Purdy was a Pro Bowler in 2023 and he was the 49ers' starting quarterback in Super Bowl LVIII.

As for Simmons, there's a decent chance he's selected before the seventh round.

ESPN, in fact, recently pointed out Simmons as one of the top sleepers in this year's draft.

"He's going to be one of those surprise guys," said a Tennessee staff member to ESPN in regards to Simmons. "He's your big stocking stuffer and helps the pass rushers get loose."

Simmons is a former three-star recruit from Memphis/Nashville who signed with Tennessee during the 2019 recruiting cycle.

In six seasons with the Vols, Simmons totaled 59 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and 0.5 sacks.
