Former Vol who started his career at Georgia said his time at Tennessee was the worst year of his life
The former Vol played for Tennessee during the final season of the Butch Jones era.
A former Vol who started his college career at Georgia said recently that his one season at Tennessee was the worst year of his life.
Former Tennessee defensive back Shaq Wiggins spent his true freshman season at Georgia before transferring to Louisville for three seasons. Wiggins spent his final season of eligibility at Tennessee in 2017, which was the final year of the Butch Jones era on Rocky Top.
The Volunteers went 4-8 that season with zero SEC wins.
“Bro, that was one of the worst years of my life,” said Wiggins on Raw Room this week.
“We didn’t win a game. … After I left Louisville as a grad transfer, Tennessee is on TV every week and I used to like them when I used to go visit in high school. They needed cornerbacks. So I go to Tennessee for six months. The worst year of my life.”
2017 was not a good season to be at Tennessee. Butch Jones lost control of the locker room, he got into it with the media over fights that happened at practice, and the Vols lost every SEC game on their schedule by an average of 21 points.
So it’s easy to see why Wiggins didn’t enjoy his six months with the Volunteers.
Wiggins, by the way, didn’t see much playing time in 2017. He totaled just 10 tackles in four games.
In early 2018, Wiggins said his lone season at Tennessee was “so terrible.”
