The Tennessee Vols will be looking to play the role of spoiler this weekend in Knoxville.

Tennessee is set to host a Vanderbilt Commodores team that is looking to reach the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history.

Vanderbilt needs a win over the Volunteers to get to 10-2 on the season and strengthen its case for an at-large bid in the 12-team playoff.

Tennessee, meanwhile, is hoping to end the regular season on a positive note and move one win closer to the program’s third 10-win season in four years.

ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit predicts who will win the matchup between Tennessee and Vanderbilt

ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit won’t be calling the Vanderbilt vs Tennessee matchup — he’ll be handling the Alabama vs Auburn game in Jordan-Hare Stadium — so he’s free to make a prediction for the rivalry showdown on Rocky Top.

Herbstreit said on his YouTube channel on Monday that he thinks there will be a lot of points scored in the Tennessee/Vandy game, but he thinks it’ll be the Vols that come out on top.

“I want to think (Vanderbilt QB Diego) Pavia can finish this thing and go 10-2,” said Herbstreit. “He’s got the personality and a team that’s talented enough to do it. I just saw Tennessee. I really like this team. I like (Vols QB Joey) Aguilar. I’m going Tennessee, because they’re at home, to win that game. And I like a lot of points in that game.”

“I think Vandy is going to be scoring,” added Herbstreit. “I just don’t think they’re going to score enough. I think Pavia will be play well.”

The over/under for this game is set at 64.5 points, so Vegas agrees with Herbstreit that lots of points will be scored.

The Vols and the Commodores will kick off at 3:30 PM ET on Saturday. Play-by-play man Tom Hart and former Vanderbilt quarterback Jordan Rodgers will be on the call for ESPN. The terrific Cole Cubelic will handle sideline reporting duties.
