Jalin Hyatt introduced himself to fellow former Vol Colton Hood in a rude way at New York Giants OTAs
Former Tennessee Volunteers Jalin Hyatt and Colton Hood faced off against each other on Monday at New York Giants OTAs. Hyatt is entering his fourth season with the Giants while Hood is a rookie.
Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jalin Hyatt got to face a fellow former Vol — cornerback Colton Hood — on Monday at New York Giants OTAs.
And on at least one play, Hyatt got the best of Hood, a second round pick by the Giants in the 2026 NFL Draft.
According to multiple reports, Hyatt beat Hood on a go route and made the contested catch on the pass from quarterback Jameis Winston.
Jalin Hyatt reportedly had a great practice on Monday at Giants OTAs
Hyatt, who got banged up a bit during minicamps in May, reportedly had his “best practice of the spring” on Monday.
“Jalin Hyatt had his best practice of the spring,” tweeted The Athletic’s Giants reporter Dan Duggan. “He caught a deep ball from Jameis over Colton Hood. The defense was complaining about a push-off, but there was no flag from the real NFL crew at practice. It was good to see Hyatt use his hands like that since he so often gets out-muscled at the catch point.”
Duggan also noted that Hyatt had a “nice all hands snag on a deep in route from Winston.”
Hyatt and Hood didn’t overlap at Tennessee. And since Hood was in Knoxville for less than a year (Hood joined the Vols after spring practice in 2025), it’s unclear if the two knew each other very well before the Giants drafted Hood.
But they certainly do after Monday.
Hyatt, who is still just 24-years-old, is entering the final season of his rookie contract with the Giants. The former Vol is hoping that a fresh start with a new coaching staff can help him find his groove in New York. (I’m back….back in the New York Groove!)
There’s a long way to go before the start of the 2026 season, but Monday’s solid practice is something Hyatt can build off of moving forward.
