Multiple outlets share the same AP Top 25 prediction for Tennessee after Vols’ win over New Mexico State
The Tennessee Vols took down the New Mexico State Aggies on Saturday evening in Knoxville.
The Tennessee Vols were far from perfect on Saturday in a 42-9 win over the New Mexico State Aggies.
Tennessee out-gained New Mexico State by just 73 total yards, and the Vols were an inefficient three-for-11 on third down conversions (the Aggies were eight-for-19 on third down conversions).
The Volunteers will return to action next Saturday when they travel to Gainesville for a matchup against the Florida Gators.
Multiple outlets share the same AP Top 25 prediction for Tennessee after Vols’ win over New Mexico State
Tennessee was ranked No. 21 in last week’s AP Top 25 poll. Both On3 and CBS Sports have the Vols moving up to No. 20 in this week’s AP Top 25 poll.
“The Vols weren’t totally crisp, by their own admission, but the result was never in doubt in a 42-9 runaway win against New Mexico State,” wrote CBS Sports’ Chip Patterson.
Louisville, which was ranked No. 19 last week, lost to Clemson on Friday night.
Tennessee should be poised to move up a couple of spots in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings since several teams ahead of the Vols lost this week (Louisville, Pittsburgh, and Iowa).
The new College Football Playoff rankings will be revealed on Tuesday night. The new AP Top 25 poll, meanwhile, will be revealed on Sunday afternoon.
