National media outlet makes ‘bold prediction’ that involves the Tennessee Vols and the Vanderbilt Commodores

The 2025 matchup between Vandy and Tennessee, however, could veer from the norm.
If the Vols and the Commodores both win their next three games, it’ll result in a scenario where a 10-1 Vanderbilt and a 9-2 Tennessee are likely battling for a spot in the College Football Playoff in the final week of the regular season.
CBS Sports predicts that Vanderbilt will bet Tennessee in the final week of the regular season
CBS Sports’ Will Backus made some bold predictions this week for the rest of the 2025 college football season, and he has Vanderbilt winning out.
“The rest of the way is very manageable for the ‘Dores,” wrote Backus. “Not to continue using Texas as a punching bag, but Vanderbilt travels to Austin in Week 10 for a very winnable game. The Commodores also have to hop over to Knoxville to close the year.
“That will be tough, given that Tennessee has one of the best offenses in the nation. But Tennessee’s defense just allowed Kentucky to score 34 points and the Vols haven’t held a single conference opponent under 30 all year. Vanderbilt walks into Knoxville and gets its first win against its in-state rival since 2018 to cap the best season in program history.”
This could be the biggest game in the history of the Tennessee/Vanderbilt rivalry. Both teams, however, have to get through the next three games unscathed to make the regular season finale a de facto play-in game.

Heupel’s offense, however, could […]
