The Tennessee Vols wrapped up the 2023 season with a dominant 35-0 win in the Citrus Bowl against the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Tennessee was ranked No. 25 in the AP rankings for their matchup against Iowa while the Hawkeyes were ranked No. 20.
On Monday, 247Sports predicted that Tennessee will make a big jump in the final AP Top 25. They have the Vols jumping all the way to No. 18.
From 247Sports: The Joe Milton era is over after one season as Tennessee's starting quarterback and Vols fans got an early taste of what next fall will look like during the drubbing of Iowa in the Citrus Bowl. Former five-star signee Nico Iamaleava was terrific in his first-career start and now, with Tennessee's wide receiver room settled including the return of Bru McCoy, he has plenty of weapons to spread the football around next season. We believe Tennessee solidified another top 20 finish under Josh Heupel with the bowl win.
That would be quite a jump in the AP rankings. But if it ends up being where the Vols land in the final AP Top 25 of the 2023 season, it would probably lead to at least a top 15 ranking for Tennessee in the preseason top 25 for the 2024 season.
If Tennessee finishes the season ranked inside the top 25 as expected, it will be the first time the Vols have finished ranked in back to back seasons since 2015 and 2016 under Butch Jones.
