‘They just don’t look like they really care much about playing football anymore’ – Insider makes prediction Tennessee fans will love

Is this the year the Tennessee Vols finally knock off the Florida Gators in Gainesville?

The Tennessee Vols probably aren’t going to make the College Football Playoff this season.

Tennessee suffered its third loss of the season earlier this month, and it’s unlikely that a three loss team will be included in the 12-team playoff.

But while the Vols probably won’t be playing deep into January this season, there’s still plenty to play for — including the opportunity to beat the Florida Gators in Gainesville for the first time since 2003.

On3’s Chris Low predicts that Tennessee will beat Florida in the Swamp

Tennessee will play Florida on November 22 in the Swamp.

The last time the Vols won in Gainesville, George W. Bush was the president, CDs and DVDs were still flying off the shelves at Best Buy, Michael Jordan had just retired a few months earlier (for the third time), Patrick Mahomes had just turned eight years old, and MySpace had just launched.

It’s been a while.

In the 22 years since the Vols’ last win in Gainesville, Tennessee has been on the wrong side of some blowouts — and they’ve blown a few games, too (such as 2015 and 2017).

On3’s Chris Low, however, thinks 2025 is the season that Tennessee’s losing streak in the Swamp ends.

Low joined WNML’s Josh and Swain this week and he predicted a Tennessee win over Florida.

“My good buddy Brent Hubbs (of VolQuest), who knows as much about Tennessee football as anybody, swore to me one time he would never pick Tennessee ever again in Gainesville until he saw them beat [Florida] there,” said Low. “And I was sort of on board with that. I’ve just seen too many Tennessee stinkers there in the Swamp.”

“I mean, I’m old, and I go back to the 90’s when Tennessee had top five teams that couldn’t win down there. But I just think this Florida team has mailed it in. I guess we’ll watch them play this weekend against Ole Miss. But they just, to me, look like a team that’s ready to go to the house, ready to go the beach, or go snow skiing or something. They just don’t look like they really care much about playing football anymore. So with that being said, Tennessee’s still got some things to play for. They’ve got two big games — that one (Florida) and Vandy. So I guess maybe I’m going to break mold here and say I think Tennessee will win. I think they’re going to win. Put it this way — you put me on the spot, so I’m gonna be completely honest — if they don’t win this year, if Tennessee doesn’t win at the Swamp, I’m not sure the good Lord’s gonna let me live long enough to ever see it happen.”

Florida is 3-6 after firing head coach Billy Napier earlier this season. The Gators lost by 31 points to the Kentucky Wildcats last weekend. If the Vols can’t get a win in Gainesville this season, it may be time to look into some curse-reversing methods.
