Rick Barnes and the Tennessee Vols have done a nice job in the portal this offseason, landing five key transfer additions so far.

And the Vols are still in the mix for several other transfer players.

Tennessee is hoping to land Wake Forest transfer guard Juke Harris, a player who’s even more important for the Vols now that Nate Ament has declared for the 2026 NBA Draft (Ament could still return, but his announcement didn’t sound like a player considering a return to college).

The Vols also still need to add a big man or two.

Rick Barnes hints that Tennessee has made an addition that hasn’t been reported yet

Barnes met with reporters on Thursday and was asked if there’s a certain type of big man that Tennessee still wants to add.

The longtime Vols head coach suggested that Tennessee’s already landed a big man, but it just isn’t public yet.

“How do you know we haven’t added some and haven’t told you?” said Barnes. “That’s what you should be asking. And the answer to that is yes, but we’re not gonna tell you. But the fact is as we look at what we have left, we want to make sure that, again, that we got guys that certainly understand the physicality in this league. And we addressed that with what we have and what we have left.”

Kennesaw State transfer forward Braedan Lue took a visit to Tennessee this week. Lue, 6-foot-9/235 pounds, averaged 10.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game as a sophomore last season. Lue recorded a double-double (12 points and 10 rebounds) in a loss to Alabama last December.

It’s unclear if Barnes was referencing Lue, but he’s a player who makes sense for the Vols.

Either way, it sounds like Tennessee fans should expect some good transfer news in the not-too-distant future.
