The Tennessee Vols are searching for an offensive tackle in the NCAA transfer portal to replace right tackle Gerald Mincey, who recently entered the portal.
One name the Vols are reportedly interested in is North Carolina Tar Heels transfer offensive tackle Diego Pounds.
But unfortunately for Tennessee, it appears that Pounds is heading to Ole Miss.
"The Rebels have been pushing to bolster its talent on the line this offseason. Sources anticipate Diego Pounds to land in Oxford," reported On3's Pete Nakos on Monday.
Tennessee is still in the mix for LSU offensive tackle Zalance Heard, but they have some stiff competition for the Louisiana native.
Heard took weekend visits to Tennessee and Oklahoma. Ole Miss also lingers as a possibility for Heard.
According to Nakos, Heard is expected to make a decision sometime this week.
The Vols desperately need to address the right tackle position via the portal. If they don't find an option before spring practice, it's certainly possible they could land a transfer offensive lineman during the spring portal window (after spring practice). But it would obviously be preferable to land an offensive tackle in January so they can go through spring practice beginning in March.

That was a rough moment in Vols history
