A Tennessee Vols defender who recently entered the NCAA transfer portal was named by CBS Sports this week as one of the top 10 uncommitted players currently in the portal.

CBS Sports listed Vols transfer safety Jakobe Thomas as the No. 8 uncommitted player in the transfer portal.

From CBS Sports: Thomas had a chance to start for Tennessee in 2025 after playing a rotational role for the Vols last season but instead elected to hit the portal. The hard-hitting former Middle Tennessee State standout had 22 total tackles, one sack and two pass breakups in his lone year in Knoxville.

Thomas is reportedly set to visit the Florida State Seminoles and the Miami Hurricanes this week.

Losing Thomas is certainly a tough blow to Tennessee's defense. Thomas, who started his career at Middle Tennessee State before transferring to Tennessee last year, played over 200 snaps for the Vols last season.

The Tullahoma, TN almost certainly would've played a key role in Tennessee's defense in 2025. The Vols' secondary depth absolutely takes a hit with Thomas' departure from the program.
