The Tennessee Vols are battling the Ohio State Buckeyes, Georgia Bulldogs, and Ole Miss Rebels for 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges.

Gabriel Georges, 6-foot/205 pounds from Chattanooga, TN (he’s originally from Canada), is a five-star running back in the 2027 recruiting class. He’s rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 running back in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee.

Georgia and Ole Miss are scheduled to receive official visits from Gabriel Georges, but this battle is mainly between Tennessee and Ohio State.

Tennessee receives a positive sign in the battle for David Gabriel Georges

Vols fans liked what they saw this week when images emerged of the five-star running back wearing orange and white Tennessee gloves at practice.

Wearing those gloves doesn’t mean that Gabriel Georges is definitely going to Tennessee. It doesn’t even mean that Tennessee is “leading” this recruiting battle.

But if you’re a Vols fan, wouldn’t you prefer to see Gabriel Georges in Tennessee gear instead of Ohio State gear?

I think that’s an easy yes.

This recruiting battle will get really real in a couple of weeks when Gabriel Georges begins his official visits. We’ll have a much better idea of where each school stands following those visits.

Gabriel Georges will visit Ohio State first before heading to Tennessee. He’ll wrap up his official visit tour with trips to Ole Miss and Georgia.

The latest on David Gabriel Georges’ recruitment

VolQuest’s Austin Price provided a quick update on Gabriel Georges’ recruitment last week.

“Tennessee’s in as good a spot as they can be, as we sit here in early May,” said Price on 104.5 The Zone’s Ramon and Will. “Now, I don’t believe David Gabriel Georges has made up his mind. No matter what everybody wants to say, and has pushed [that] narrative for so long, I don’t believe Gabriel Georges has made a decision.

“I think he likes both schools. I think there are perks at both, and that’s why he’s going to go through the official visit process. Tennessee has some nice feathers in their cap, and Ohio State does as well. But again, I continue to like where Tennessee is at, as we sit here in early May. But I also firmly believe DGG does not know for certain what he’s doing right now, and so he is going to go through the process and see where things shake out.”

The five-star running back is planning to announce his commitment on July 22.
