Tennessee has to give money to Alabama after beating the Crimson Tide in Knoxville
The Tennessee Vols are 3-0 in their last three games against the Alabama Crimson Tide in Knoxville.
Tennessee’s win over Alabama was costly — in the financial sense.
The Vols’ win over the Crimson Tide was their third straight win in Knoxville in the rivalry.
And for the third straight time, Tennessee fans stormed the field after the win (Vols AD Danny White asked for fans to wait a couple of minutes for Alabama to clear the field, but that didn’t happen).
According to multiple reports, Tennessee is being fined $500,000 for fans rushing the field.
Per SEC policy, that money will go to Alabama.
So yes, Tennessee has to pay Alabama half a million bucks after dominating them for 60 minutes in Neyland Stadium last Saturday.
If the Vols beat the Crimson Tide again in Knoxville in two years, there will probably be another fine.
Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said after this year’s win that storming the field after beating Alabama is the expectation now.
