We lost a legend and an icon on Tuesday as Dolly Parton passed away at the age of 80.

Parton’s family announced the news via her Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon.

There will rightfully be thousands of tributes to Parton, a humanitarian, entertainer, and, in general, a bright light.

Global icon and humanitarian, Dolly Parton, known to the world as a beloved singer, songwriter, philanthropist, actress, playwright, and author died peacefully today in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 80 years old.

One of those tributes came from Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning on Tuesday afternoon.

“There was only one Dolly and I feel lucky to have known her,” wrote Peyton in a post on Instagram. “We’ll miss you, Dolly. Tennessee won’t be the same without her!”
