The waiting is almost over for Tennessee Vols fans.
2025 five-star quarterback George MacIntyre revealed on Friday afternoon, via a video posted to social media, that he's going to announce his commitment on Monday, January 22.
MacIntyre, 6-foot-5/182 lbs from Brentwood, TN, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 quarterback in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee. He's also rated as the No. 9 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.
Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee have long been viewed as the three favorites for MacIntyre. LSU, however, recently received a commitment from 2025 five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, which essentially took them out of the running for MacIntyre.
Tennessee has had the edge throughout MacIntyre's recruitment, but he built a solid relationship with Nick Saban, which kept Alabama firmly in the mix.
Saban's recent retirement, however, suggests that the Vols will be the pick on Monday. It's hard to see MacIntyre committing to Alabama when he hasn't had time to establish any sort of relationship with new Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer.
It would be a major upset if Tennessee isn't the pick on Monday.
