The Tennessee Vols’ top 2027 recruiting target is no longer rated as a 5-star talent

The Tennessee Vols’ top 2027 recruiting target is no longer rated as a five-star recruit. Recruiting rankings don’t always tell the full story for a player, but they’re still a useful tool for fans and reporters.

The Tennessee Vols’ top 2027 recruiting target is no longer rated as a five-star recruit by Rivals.

2027 running back David Gabriel Georges, a player the Vols have made a top priority, is still rated as a five-star recruit by 247Sports, but he’s now rated by Rivals as a four-star recruit.

I don’t know what all went into this decision by Rivals, and I’m not trying to question their evaluators, but the eye test says Gabriel Georges is an undisputed five-star. He looks and moves like a future NFL superstar.

But for whatever reason, Rivals took the fifth star away from Gabriel Georges.

Ultimately, Tennessee doesn’t care if Gabriel Georges is rated as a four-star or a five-star — the Vols just want to see the dynamic running back in Orange and White.

Where does the battle for David Gabriel Georges stand?

Gabriel Georges, 6-foot/205 pounds, recently announced a top four of Tennessee, Ohio State, Georgia, and Ole Miss.

Most analysts, however, believe this battle is mainly between Tennessee and Ohio State.

On3’s Chad Simmons noted this week that NIL will play a factor in Gabriel Georges’ decision.

“Ohio State and Tennessee — that’s where this one sits,” wrote Simmons of Gabriel Georges’ recruitment. “Both programs feel good about where they stand, and this recruitment has the feel of one that will go deep into the process. NIL will factor in here, and both programs are expected to be aggressive for David Gabriel Georges, a star out of Canada.”

Gabriel Georges will begin taking official visits soon. We’ll have a much better idea of where Tennessee and Ohio State stand in this battle after those visits (the coveted running back will visit Ohio State on May 29 and Tennessee on June 5).

A summertime decision is expected from Gabriel Georges, though that is subject to change.
