Former Vol Trey Smith made it undoubtedly clear how he feels about Taylor Swift being around the Kansas City Chiefs
Former Tennessee Volunteers offensive lineman Trey Smith has developed into a key player for the Kansas City Chiefs over the last few seasons after falling to the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Former Tennessee Vols offensive lineman Trey Smith should’ve been a first round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Smith, however, fell to the sixth round — where he was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs — due to concerns over blood clots he dealt with in college.
Things worked out pretty well for Smith, though. He landed with an elite franchise in Kansas City, he’s won two Super Bowls, and he received a four-year extension from the Chiefs worth over $90 million.
And he’s had a front-row seat to one of the most notable modern day romances — Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and pop superstar Taylor Swift.
Trey Smith makes it clear how he feels about Taylor Swift
Smith recently appeared on Terron Armstead’s podcast and he left no doubt on how he feels about Swift.
“I don’t like talking about them — because that’s their relationship, so I try to respect that,” said Smith. “I will say this — I love Travis, that’s my dog. When we’re on the field, that dude, the energy and juice, and how much he loves it — how much the game means to him and playing for Kansas City, he loves this s–t man. And I respect that as a leader for our team.
“I would say that any interaction I’ve had with Taylor has been incredible. [She’s] extremely personable. I remember at one point meeting her with my ex and my sister, and [Taylor] making a comment, like, ‘I like her dress, and you have a beautiful smile, etc.’ And then [I saw her] maybe a month or two later, and she said, ‘Hey, how is so and so.’ But just personal questions (that she would ask). [Swift] is the best artist in the world right now — the top selling — and [she] cares. But that just speaks volumes to the person she is. She didn’t let that (success) change her. And I think my respect for her is just so high. Obviously, I love Travis, and I just want them to be happy.”
“But I would say, as a team, fans — and even when I go back to Tennessee — they always ask, ‘Have you met her, does it bother you guys? I know you’re tired of it.’ To be honest — especially that year it was really big — we didn’t notice it. Because we’re not watching the game. We’re out there playing. So for us, it was never really a distraction… For us, we just wish they would let her and him have their privacy a little bit more. I don’t think you would like your relationship blasted like that. So it was just one of those things where we wish they would just let them have their privacy. But ultimately, it never affected us as a team, and any interaction we had with her was so great. The way she was able to integrate into the team, it was easy. But she’s also an amazing human being, so it shouldn’t shock anybody.”
That should put an end to any narrative that the Swift/Kelce relationship is a distraction in Kansas City, because it very clearly is not.
