Tennessee’s latest addition just became an instant fan favorite thanks to quote he dropped after committing to the Vols
Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Volunteers started the week with some great news by landing a commitment from 2027 in-state athlete Brandon “Slim” Leavell, who is from Madison, TN.
The Tennessee Vols started the penultimate week of May with a bang.
Tennessee landed a commitment on Monday from 2027 three-star athlete Brandon “Slim” Leavell.
Leavell, 6-foot-2/170 pounds from Madison, TN, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 44 athlete in the nation and the No. 18 player in the state of Tennessee.
He committed to Tennessee over Clemson, Florida, Florida State, and NC State.
Leavell is expected to play cornerback for the Volunteers.
Brandon Leavell drops quote after committing to Tennessee that Vols fans are loving
Leavell isn’t a highly rated recruit, but he’s already a fan favorite on Rocky Top thanks to the quote he dropped after committing to Tennessee.
“Tennessee always felt special to me,” said Leavell to Rivals. “Tennessee offered me on Feb 23 and the new staff has been heavily recruiting me. They have made me a priority and have visited me multiple times.”
Leavell made a similar comment to 247Sports after committing to the Vols.
“[Tennessee] holds a special place in my heart, and I don’t really see myself leaving my home state when I’ve got my hometown team prioritizing me,” said Leavell.
There’s no fan base in college football that embraces in-state talent quite like Tennessee’s.
It’s clear that the opportunity to wear the Power T means a lot to Leavell, and it’s not a surprise that Vols fans are showering UT’s latest addition with love as a result.
