Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill went viral (as he often does) this week thanks to a short yardage rant where he referenced former Tennessee Vols running back Jaylen Wright.

Hill was asked by a reporter how the Dolphins can solve their short yardage issues.

“Take De’Von (Achane) out on third down,” said Hill. “What? That’s my honest opinion. If it’s third-and-short, he’s not a power back. I’ll be telling him that in the locker room, but he swears he’s a power back. I love De’Von, though, but if I’m being honest, that’s why you got Jaylen Wright, that’s why you got Ollie Gordon, for those kind of situations.”

Wright is entering his second season with the Dolphins. The former Vol rushed for 249 yards in 15 games for Miami as a rookie in 2024.

The North Carolina native is in line for a bigger role in the Dolphins’ offense in 2025 after the team released veteran running back Raheem Mostert earlier this offseason.

Wright, who is 22 pounds heavier than Achane, developed into a physical runner during his final couple of seasons at Tennessee.

Wright, for what it’s worth, believes he can be a top running back in the NFL.

“I know I can be a top back in this league,” said Wright last month. “I feel like just my skill set, my ability and the system I’m in, it sets me up to be great. It’s God’s plan, staying the course. It’s a long season, staying the course, doing what I got to do every time I touch that rock, every time the ball comes to me just make a play with the ball.”

We’ll see if the Dolphins give the ball to Wright more often in short yardage situations this fall. There’s no doubt that Hill will be calling for the former Vol to get the ball in those situations.
