2025 five-star Tennessee Vols quarterback commit George MacIntyre hinted on Saturday that some surprise recruiting news is on the way for UT football.

Earlier on Saturday, the Vols received a commitment from 2025 four-star linebacker Christian Gass, who is rated by On3 as the No. 85 overall player in the nation.

Shortly after Gass committed to Tennessee, On3's Chad Simmons noted that another Vols recruiting target, four-star defensive back Lagonza Hayward, is set to announce his commitment next Saturday.

MacIntyre replied to Simmons' tweet, writing that a surprise commit is "coming soon".

2025 four-star defensive lineman Ethan Utley, who committed to Tennessee in late March, followed up MacIntyre's tweet by suggesting that the "surprise commit" could come before next Saturday.

It's unclear who MacIntyre and Utley are referring to, but it likely isn't Hayward since the insinuation is that the "surprise" will come before next Saturday.

2025 four-star linebacker Jadon Perlotte, who has been committed to Georgia since December 8, 2022, could be an option. The Vols have been working hard to flip Perlotte over the last couple of months. And On3's Steve Wiltfong said in June that Tennessee is the "biggest threat" to flip Perlotte.

While we don't know for sure who MacIntyre and Utley are talking about, it sounds like Vols fans won't have to wait long to find out.
