A key Vols recruiting target who is of particular interest to Tennessee fans has scheduled his commitment date
One of the Tennessee Volunteers’ top football recruiting targets officially set his commitment date this week. The Vols are hoping to hear some good news later this month.
One of the Tennessee Vols’ top football recruiting targets officially set his commitment date this week.
2027 four-star linebacker Kenneth Simon II told Rivals on Thursday that he plans to announce his commitment on May 11.
Tennessee, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Alabama are Simon’s finalists.
Simon, 6-foot-2/210 pounds from Brentwood, TN, is the son of former Vols linebacker Kevin Simon. The four-star linebacker is rated by 247Sports as the No. 7 linebacker in the nation and the No. 6 player in the state of Tennessee. Simon is also rated as the No. 132 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.
Who is the leader for Kenneth Simon?
The Vols have been heavily recruiting Simon for over a year, but it appears that Alabama is the team to beat here.
Bama Online’s Andrew Bone placed a prediction on Tuesday for Alabama to land Simon.
“I have dropped an RPM (official prediction) for Simon to join the Crimson Tide’s class,” wrote Bone. “The wait is on as to when Simon will announce his commitment, but Alabama appears to be in a strong position as of now.”
Bone also noted that Simon’s decision “could come down to the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs despite the family ties (to Tennessee).”
Tennessee could still be the team that comes out on top in this recruiting battle — commitment predictions aren’t the gospel — but it sounds like the Vols may be bracing for bad news on May 11.
