Former Tennessee Vols basketball star Grant Williams was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday.

Shortly after the deal went down, a report surfaced that Williams was traded by the Mavericks because he rubbed people the wrong way in Dallas.

"The fact they gave up a 2030 swap for Grant Williams and then dumped him as soon as they possibly could, which they were determined to dump him," said Tim MacMahon during an appearance on the Brian Windhorst Podcast. "Not just about getting P.J. Washington, they wanted to be out of the Grant Williams' business. He rubbed a lot of people the wrong way."

Williams is known for his brash playing style on the court, which has led to several altercations this season, including one with LeBron James and one with Kevin Durant

Ahead of the season, Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic suggested that sometimes Williams can talk "too much".

There's no doubt that Williams can get under his opponents' skin — that's essentially his MO when he's on the court. But if he was also rubbing his teammates the wrong way, then that's definitely problematic.

Of course, who knows if this report is accurate. Until a former teammate comes out and confirms it, it's just a rumor from MacMahon.
