Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees had a tone-deaf response to a college football injury on Saturday.

Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers went down in the first half against Alabama. He appeared to injure his shoulder.

Brees, who knows a thing or two about shoulder injuries, took to social media to suggest that Ewers should put a harness on his shoulder and “shoot it up” so he can finish the game.

Brees should know as well as anyone that the advice he’s giving is terrible.

I’m sure Ewers wants to finish the game worse than anyone. But I’m sure he also wants to be available for the rest of the reason. Risking a season-long injury in week two doesn’t seem wise on any account.

Brees might want to rethink his “advice” before he gets someone seriously hurt.

Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian, by the way, said at halftime that he wasn’t sure if Ewers would return.
