The New Orleans Saints defense has plenty of big-time names. Demario Davis, Marshon Lattimore, and Cameron Jordan headline the unit. An unsung hero is young linebacker Pete Werner.

The Saints got a steal in Werner in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. As the 60th overall pick, he has played like a first-round talent for the Saints.

This season, he is starting to get a bit of recognition in the media and around the league. His teammates have known about his ability for awhile now.

Werner has turned the linebacker position from a weakness to a strength for the Saints. Before his arrival, it was just Demario Davis as an impact player at the position. Now, there is depth and plenty of upside.

Davis, a veteran and special leader, has consistently praised Werner. He has very high expectations for the Saints’ young stud.

There is a legitimate chance that the Saints could end up having two of the top ten off-ball LBs in the NFL by season’s end. Werner’s impressive development is vital for the Saints’ success going forward this season and beyond.
