Background

While Baugh is a very talented running back, he didn’t come with elite pedigree. Baugh was a low four-star athlete who ranked No. 381 in the nation per the 247 Sports Composite. He played all over in high school, taking snaps at quarterback, running back, wide receiver, cornerback, and safety. The Gators recruited him to play running back, and it was a smart decision.

In high school, Baugh was a dominant player, averaging a whopping 14 yards per carry. He got run as a true freshman due to injuries, and he shone, with 673 yards at 5.1 yards per carry. In 2025, Baugh proved to be a stud, rushing for 1,170 yards and eight touchdowns at 5.3 yards per carry. That includes a 266-yard performance against the Florida State Seminoles.

Player evaluation

Baugh is an excellent prospect at the running back position. He is a rare workhorse that you can give 25 carries per game and he can handle it. Baugh can thrive in any scheme thanks to his wide variety of skills. His vision is top-notch, allowing him to see what develops in front of him. Baugh’s quick feet help him immensely hit the backside of zone concepts and evade defenders in space.

Along with his vision and feet, Baugh has good patience to allow his blocks to set up, which is exactly what you want to see when projecting forward in any scheme. He also is a willing and talented pass blocker, using good leverage and technique to stop blitzers in their tracks. While that is a good element to his game, Baugh does need to develop some consistency with his pass blocking, as he can lapse a bit with his technique.

One thing that will be a huge discussion point come draft season is his long speed. Baugh is more of a ramp-up kind of back. He also doesn’t have elite burst either, making him a weird evaluation overall for a potential first-round pick. If he wants to take that step forward, the Gators product needs to show a little bit more burst.
