It was a party in Buffalo after the Bills' dominated the Pittsburgh Steelers 38-3 on Sunday afternoon.

Josh Allen led the way, continuing his MVP-caliber season with over 400 passing yards and four touchdowns.

However, it wasn't until after the game that fans realized this win was so much more than just a normal game.

During the post-game speech, McDermott awarded the game ball to a staff member who had just lost his father.

Washington, who just lost his father, was able to still make it to the game.

Coaching history

Eric Washington is a senior defensive assistant/defensive line coach and a staple on this Buffalo Bills roster.

Washington joined the Bills in 2020 as the team's defensive line coach and was quickly promoted to senior defensive assistant/defensive line coach before the 2022 season.

Washington's professional coaching career includes stints with Texas A&M, Ohio and Northwestern.

At the NFL level, Washington has had experience with the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills.

Our thoughts, prayers, and condolences go out to coach Washington and his entire family.

Bills rally after tragedy

This isn't the first time the Buffalo Bills put on a clinic after the death of someone close to the team.

Specifically, the Buffalo Bills dominated the Seattle Seahawks during the COVID season.

After the game, Josh Allen announced the loss of his grandmother.

This resulted in over a million dollars being donated to the Oishei Children's Hospital and a wing named in her honor.

The Buffalo Bills, and fans of the team, always seem to gather around the players and coaches when tragedy strikes.

There aren't many details available on what type of charity Washington prefers, or any details surrounding the death of his father.

The team, yet again, was able to rally around a close member who was struggling and proved victorious.

Some things are just bigger than football.
