Josh Allen enters rare territory with milestone that puts him alongside NFL legends

Josh Allen cemented his place, once again, among the NFL’s all-time greats after Sunday’s dominant performance against the Houston Texans. The Buffalo Bills dethroned Houston with 36 points and a commanding offensive showing, and Allen was the driving force behind the victory, tallying two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns against one of the league’s best defenses.
A historic achievement
That four-touchdown outing pushed Allen into a tier of elite quarterbacks. He became the sixth player in NFL history with at least four combined passing and rushing touchdowns in at least 25 career games. The company is impressive: Tom Brady (47 games), Drew Brees (42 games), Aaron Rodgers (40 games), Peyton Manning (36 games), and Brett Favre (25).
Brees, Manning, and Favre are already Hall of Famers. Brady and Rodgers will join them once they become eligible. Allen is tracking toward that same destination. His production already stands on its own, and Bills fans hope championships will follow a career trajectory that has been excellent.
His talent makes the argument easy. He belongs in the conversation for the best quarterback of his generation, even though Patrick Mahomes has much more team success.
Thursday’s matchup with Detroit looms large
Buffalo plays on “Thursday Night Football” in Week 2, an electric matchup against the Detroit Lions. The Bills want to start the season 2-0 for the third consecutive year, and Allen’s track record against Detroit suggests he can deliver again.
The last time these teams met was in 2024, when Allen totaled 430 yards (362 passing, 68 rushing) with four touchdowns (two passing, two rushing). Few players in the league can match Allen’s dual-threat consistency on a game-to-game basis, and against a strong Lions’ offense, the Bills will need every bit of it to stay ahead.
