Following a much-needed week off, the Carolina Panthers will be back in action to take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field and both teams will be looking to send a message to the rest of the NFC in this game.

The Panthers came out of the bye week still in first place of the NFC South, but with a 2-2 record. There’s still plenty for this team to prove before being treated as a playoff threat and taking care of business in a hostile environment can go a long way toward convincing people that this team can really be legit.

As for the Eagles, this is a team that’s falling out of the sky entering this game. Philadelphia has lost three straight games after starting the season 2-0 and in need of a bounce-back in front of their home crowd. If the Eagles end up with another loss on Sunday, the questions will only get louder about this team.

Clearly, this is going to be an important game for both teams that could go either way. And for the fans wanting to tune in, there’s a few different ways to be able to do that.

Can the Carolina Panthers keep the momentum going after the bye week?

The early bye week came at the perfect time for the Panthers in more ways than one. For starters, the Panthers needed a good reset after a 2-2 start to reevaluate what’s been working for the team, and what hasn’t been working so far.

“A great bye week, time of connection early on in the week being able to talk to the coordinators,” head coach Dave Canales said. “And the goal is ‘What are we doing well, what needs improvement?’ Just diving into some of those things and trying to find an edge, whatever that might be for us.”

On top of that, the Panthers were coming off a high emotion win on Sunday Night Football in Week 4, and it’s the kind of game that could lead to a trap game the following week with emotions being that high. By having the week off, the Panthers got the chance to take a step back, take a breath, and focus on the week ahead with a clear mindset.

It also gave the players plenty of time to get away from the facility and take a break before a long final stretch. Veteran offensive lineman Rob Hunt, for example, got married during the break while quarterback Bryce Young was seemingly all over the national scene after appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, College GameDay, and the MNF ManningCast.

Along with that, it was also a key week of rest for various players dealing with injuries and the Panthers even welcomed three faces back at practice this week in Taylor Moton, Turk Wharton, and Trevor Etienne, who all missed the first four games of the season.

Now, the question becomes, can the Panthers turn the focus back to the task at hand after the much-needed week off and keep this momentum going starting on Sunday? We’ll find out.
