Not much of anything was going right for the Chicago Bears on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings in terrible weather conditions, and just when it looked like things were looking up, the Bears are now faced with a nightmare scenario.

Quarterback Caleb Williams was injured, helped off the field, and later carted to the locker room after suffering a lower body injury after pulling up on at the line of scrimmage on a run with 7:42 remaining in the final quarter of play.

Backup quarterback Tyson Bagent entered the game for the Bears in place of Williams and now the entire city of Chicago holds its collective breath.

Injury to Caleb Williams could derail the Chicago Bears’ season

It’ll take a while until we get an official report on Williams’ injury and the extent of it, but things currently do not look good after Williams went down without contact and was immediately in clear pain. It’s worth noting that Williams was officially ruled out with a hamstring injury.

We don’t want to speculate on injuries and will update as soon as we learn more, but things don’t currently look good for the Bears promising young starter.

If this is a doomsday scenario, the Bears are very confident in Tyson Bagent running Ben Johnson’s offense.

“I admire the fact that he still competes every single day,” Johnson said earlier in the offseason about Bagent, via The Athletic. “He walks into this building (with the attitude of), ‘These guys are crazy. I’m better than Caleb.’ Like that is how he’s wired. And that’s how he needs to be wired.”

Not matter how confident they are in Bagent’s ability leading this team, losing Williams for any extended period of time is the kind of blow that could easily derail this promising season for Chicago before it even got started.

Williams will undergo further testing with the team’s medical staff. We will provide updates as soon as they are availiable.
