Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet is coming off back-to-back solid seasons.
The former Notre Dame standout caught 50 passes for 544 yards and seven touchdowns this past season, which was his third in the NFL.
Kmet's seven touchdown receptions in 2022 were more than triple his previous career total (he had two total touchdown receptions over the first two seasons of his career).
Kmet is hoping to take his game to another level in 2023.
In fact, he's hoping that he and Fields can develop into a Tom Brady/Rob Gronkowski-type connection.
Kmet recently joined a Kane County Cougars broadcast where he praised Fields for being electric and admitted that they're aiming to be the next Brady/Gronk.
"He's just electric, man," said Kmet when asked about Fields. "I mean for what he can do obviously with his arm and then in the run game, he's just…it's unbelievable. So you always have to be on your toes and stay alive, but he's an electric player to play with."
When asked about his aspirations for a Brady/Gronk-like connection, Kmet promptly responded, "That's always what we're shooting for, that's for sure".
If Kmet and Fields can develop that type of connection, then the NFC North won't be much of a fight for the foreseeable future — the Bears will absolutely dominate the division if Kmet and Fields play at that kind of level.
