The Chicago Bears found their center of the future in Iowa’s Logan Jones after drafting him with the 57th overall pick in the second-round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

It was a premium pick to acquire a backup center for 2026, but it was necessary to ensure the long-term future at the position after losing 27-year-old Pro Bowl center Drew Dalman, who suddenly retired from football earlier this offseason.

Head coach Ben Johnson values the position very highly and considers center to be the quarterback of the offensive line in his scheme. Jones was obviously Chicago’s top ranked option and make an aggressive move to ease all uncertainty after a difficult situation.

Being drafted 57th overall also comes with a nice incentive for Jones, beyond the contract, that one superstar player in the league will be highly jealous of.

Logan Jones scores free ketchup for life after being selected 57th overall in the 2026 NFL Draft

The 57th overall pick had a weird added incentive this year. Prior to the draft, the Kraft Heinz Company announced that the player selected with the 57th pick would receive a lifetime supply of Heinz ketchup. A weird little perk and one that was actually marketed by Bears Hall of Famer Devin Hester, who was selected 57th overall by Chicago.

“I love it! I’ll take as much as I can get,” Jones told reporters after being selected and hearing the odd news. “Let’s go, ketchup!”

One player who would be jealous of this draft pick and perk is Kanas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes is a well-known ketchup lover. In fact, Mahomes signed an endorsement deal with Hunt’s Ketchup in 2018, becoming a brand ambassador for the company.

That same year, Heinz actually offered Mahomes ketchup for life if he can score 57 touchdowns that season. Mahomes went on to score 52 touchdowns during that historic season. Instead of siding with Heinz, Mahomes sold his ketchup allegiances to Hunt’s in December of 2018.

Real talk, this is a helluva perk for Jones. Personally, I’m not a ketchup guy but getting free anything for life would be awesome.

As for his on-the-field ability, Jones is actually closely compared to Dalman and the NFL’s new highest-paid center in Tyler Linderbaum. Landing him at 57 is a great perk for Chicago as well and one the staff is really excited about.
