New Joe Burrow soundbite reveals he was not joking about his message following Bengals’ win over Texans
A new soundbite from Week 2’s win reveals something Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow may’ve wanted to keep quiet.
The health of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback, Joe Burrow became a hot topic last week when it was revealed, he had some form of a back injury. Burrow called it “back tightness,” and the Bengals listed him as questionable leading up to Sunday’s win over the Houston Texans.
Burrow played and, despite being sacked five times, came out healthy, but he was caught telling Texans edge defenders Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter one of their hits on him popped his rib back into place.
Reporters asked Burrow during his postgame presser about his exchange with Anderson and Hunter. With a smile, he declined to comment. Another soundbite from the game reveals why he may’ve wanted to not add any fuel to the fire.
Joe Burrow may’ve actually had his rib popped back in place from a sack
During Sunday’s game while on the sidelines with wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, Burrow casually mentioned how taking a sack from Hunter popped his rib back to where it should be. Inside the NFL picked up on the conversation.
“One of those hits popped my rib back in place,” Burrow said to Chase and Higgins. “Then afterward, it felt better.”
Higgins picked up on which sack it was because of Burrow’s reaction after it happened. Chase then exclaimed how the hit may’ve adjusted his back.
“Facts,” Burrow said in response.
More questions arise
Now we could start recklessly speculating here; posing questions like, was Burrow hiding a rib injury this whole time? Did he simply misdiagnose what was wrong with his back? Did a rib popped out during the game? Is this all just what he thinks happened?
Burrow was listed with a back injury last week. The Bengals have to be truthful in reporting their injuries. That’s all we know for sure.
Head coach Zac Taylor would not disclose whether or not Burrow would be limited again this week, but considering what his QB just endured against a fierce defensive front, no one should be surprised if he is listed on the injury report.
We’ll just have to see if “rib” is listed as his injury or not.
