Cincinnati will stripe Paycor Stadium white and black for the first time in franchise history during their Week 17 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens on New Year’s Eve. The “White Bengal Striple” game will be featured on “Thursday Night Football,” the last of the season, and it could have massive implications for the AFC North standings.
The Bengals have had “Stripe The Jungle” games with their traditional orange and black colors. They’ve hosted even more whiteout games while wearing their “White Bengal” alternate uniforms.
Combining the two occasions while wearing their all-white kits will be a first for the club, and the timing could not carry more weight.
Bengals unveil new theme to match the spectacle
It makes perfect sense why the organization wants to make this game special.
This is one of only two primetime home games on the Bengals’ 2026 schedule, and it comes against the Ravens, who are favored to win the AFC North. A penultimate-week divisional clash with potential playoff seeding on the line, broadcast to a national audience on TNF, is the exact type of game you want to attach a marquee theme to.
Cincinnati is clearly trying to create a distinct identity for this matchup. A brand new stadium theme on a stage this large is a statement about how the team views the game’s importance.
The undeniable cold weather challenge for fans
Here’s the thing, though. New Year’s Eve falls in the beginning of winter, and an 8:15 p.m. kickoff means the temperature will likely be freezing, or at least very close to it.
Asking half of the crowd to wear white when it’s that cold is, in my opinion, an audacious request.
Think about your winter wardrobe. How much of it is white? There’s no issue wearing black or even orange to a Bengals game in December. Plenty of long-sleeve and winter apparel comes in those colors. White is a different story. Finding heavy winter gear in that color may require more effort for the fans sitting in those sections.
Those spectators will have nearly half a year to prepare their wardrobes, and the team will almost certainly sell white Bengal merchandise leading up to the event. But the reality of asking tens of thousands of people to dress in white for what could be the coldest game of the season is a legitimate hurdle.
The visual will be stunning if it works
It’s definitely a bold decision for the Bengals to go this route, but fans have also been clamoring for this theme. They’re getting what they want, but some in the stadium forced to dress in a color that reflects light may be feeling it late in the game.
The end result, though, is a visual unlike anything Cincinnati has produced before, broadcast in primetime with the AFC North potentially hanging in the balance.
If the fans pull it off, this will not be the last White Bengal Stripe game to grace Paycor Stadium.
