3-Round Browns 2027 NFL Mock Draft: Way too early look at Cleveland’s next haul ahead of Week 6 game
Another in-season way too early Cleveland Browns’ 2027 NFL Mock Draft ahead of the Week 6 game against the Baltimore Ravens.
The Cleveland Browns came back to earth Sunday against the New York Jets and couldn’t stretch their winning streak to four games. Cleveland now sits at 3-2 with a Week 6 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens on deck.
After every Browns loss this season, I’m putting together a way-too-early 2027 NFL mock draft ahead of the next game. The draft order is based on reverse Super Bowl odds, and every pick was made using the A to Z Sports mock draft simulator. This week, it’s a 3-round draft.
First round, No. 5: Colin Simmons, EDGE, Texas
Taking Simmons here is a clear example of the Browns going best player available. Cleveland does pass on a quarterback with Dante Moore still on the board, but Simmons is still a no-brainer pick at No. 5.
Jared Verse hasn’t produced the sacks the Browns need since they traded Myles Garrett. Simmons can be a plug-and-play starter and a potential double-digit sack player as soon as he reaches the NFL. He’s a great athlete, and he gets after the passer as well as any draft prospect in years.
A year after trading Garrett away, landing Simmons would be a big win for this Browns team.
First round, No. 32: CJ Carr, QB, Notre Dame
This pick comes via the Los Angeles Rams. It could land anywhere from the middle of the first round to the very last pick of the draft if the Rams figure things out and become the Super Bowl contender people think they can be.
Either way, Cleveland can take a shot at a quarterback here while still getting the best player available. It would be another throw at the dartboard in hopes of finding the franchise quarterback. In this scenario, the Browns would start a veteran for another season, potentially Deshaun Watson depending on how he plays the rest of this year. From there, Carr would take over once he’s ready.
Carr is your prototypical quarterback prospect at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds. He looks like he lives in the weight room, and he brings mobility and a capable arm. If his decision-making is on point, he has a chance to be the top quarterback in this class. It’s a good swing for the Browns at the back of the first round.
Second round, No. 37: Cayden Green, OT, Missouri
Right tackle is still a long-term question in Cleveland. Tytus Howard hasn’t looked great to this point, and fixing that spot would set the offensive line up for years. The Browns would have three quality young pieces in Spencer Fano, Austin Barber, and Green.
Green has played guard in college as well. Still, he’s undoubtedly one of the best offensive tackles in this draft class so far. He’d be another key building block for the Browns offense.
Third round, No. 69: Jaylen McClain, S, Ohio State
Cornerback was tempting with this pick. However, McClain at No. 69 feels like a terrific value for the Browns.
Ronnie Hickman is set to hit free agency next year, and Emmanuel McNeil-Warren should become a bigger piece of this defense alongside Grant Delpit. McClain could slide in as the third safety. He’s a sure tackler, a capable hard hitter, and a player who works sideline to sideline.
McClain has been a standout for Ohio State’s defense this season. Don’t sleep on what he could bring to the Browns as a mid-round addition.
Cleveland has a chance to get back on track against Baltimore in Week 6. If another loss comes, the next way-too-early mock draft won’t be far behind.
