NFL blockbuster trade possibility just opened up for the Cleveland Browns to make during the 2026 NFL Draft
We are closing in on the start of the draft and news around the Dallas Cowboys could have just opened a move up for the Cleveland Browns to make.
We’re closing in on the start of the 2026 NFL Draft where the Cleveland Browns are scheduled to make two selections. The closer we get to the draft the louder the noise gets on possible moves brewing in the background.
The Browns have a clear need at offensive tackle and wide receiver early in this draft. Recent news in the NFL opens the door for the Browns to add a difference-maker to fill one of those holes.
Dallas Cowboys’ latest news with George Pickens could mean he’s on the move
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Cowboys WR George Pickens is signing his franchise tag to play on a one-year deal in 2026 worth $27.3 million. The Cowboys and Pickens won’t be coming together on a long-term deal at this time, reportedly. With Pickens signing, the door is very much open to Pickens being on the move as soon as Thursday night during the first round.
Now, I’m not saying the Browns are going to trade for the former Pittsburgh Steelers wideout. There’s now a solid chance the Pro Bowl wideout could be traded and the Browns have a big hole at the position. There’s been rumors of the Browns and Cowboys being connected on a first-round trade of picks, for what it’s worth.
Pickens the player is an outstanding talent on the field when things are going well. Last year with the Cowboys, the former second-round pick had 1,429 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in 17 games. The issue with Pickens is the extracurricular stuff that can impact his ability to be out there and locked in on the field.
Cleveland is most likely to draft a wideout early in the draft, but you can’t rule anything out with the team. With the recent news around Pickens signing his contract, it’s clear he very well could be on the move.
Would the Browns make the swing on a player who needs a new contract too? Who knows. Anything is possible and folks should buckle up with the draft here.
