Yes, it’s another article about jersey numbers! But before you judge me, let me remind you it’s May 19. So bare with me.

All kidding aside, a large portion of Dallas Cowboys fans really cares about this kind of stuff, so we’ve got you covered. A quick glance at the team’s roster reveals a few more number changes and I’m listing them below so you’re not caught off guard once pictures from OTAs start coming out.

Latest round of Cowboys jersey number changes

  • Safety Malik Hooker is now rocking No. 24, leaving No. 28 behind.
  • Cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. is now wearing No. 28 as a result. He was previously slated to wear No. 20 this season.
  • Running back Malik Davis is taking on No. 20.
  • Linebacker Dee Winters is wearing No. 53.
  • Offensive lineman Trevor Keegan is wearing No. 77.

What jersey numbers can each position wear?

Since 2020, the NFL increased flexibility to the numbers each position can wear. In 2023, it allowed wearing the number zero.

  • Quarterbacks: 0-19
  • Running backs, fullbacks: 0-49, 80-89
  • Wide receivers, tight ends: 0-49, 80-89
  • Offensive linemen: 50-79
  • Defensive linemen: 50-79, 90-99
  • Linebackers: 0-59, 90-99
  • Punters, placekickers: 0-49, 90-99

Previous jersey number changes

Though the above are the latest number changes to be made official, below is a summary of other notable Cowboys jersey number changes from earlier in the offseason:

  • OLB Donovan Ezeiruaku is now No. 6, previously No. 41.
  • DT Kenny Clark moved to No. 97, off of No. 95.

Now, all eyes are fixated on first-round rookie Caleb Downs, who remains open to changing his current number (13).

The No. 2 he wore at Ohio State is currently taken by cornerback Cobie Durant, who may be interested in returning to No. 14 (which he wore in Los Angeles and in college) if it becomes available. Safety Markquese Bell currently holds No. 14.
