Massive injury update drops right before Dallas Cowboys take on the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football
The Dallas Cowboys will have to face one of the best young wide receivers in the game after a lot of speculation throughout the week. Check out the inactives announced on both sides of Sunday Night Football.
The biggest mystery surrounding the Dallas Cowboys’ Week 1 matchup against the New York Giants is finally all cleared up.
The Giants are playing WR Malik Nabers on Sunday Night Football after being listed as a game-time decision on Friday. Nabers, who is making a comeback after a season-ending injury in 2025, was a full participant in practice Wednesday through Friday. However, he told reporters earlier in the week he was unsure of his playing status, indicating it would be his decision alone.
Well, Nabers is suiting up. For the Cowboys, it will be a great litmus test for the new-look Christian Parker defense. The third-year receiver has put up two 100+ yard performance in three opportunities against them since 2024.
With DaRon Bland and Cobie Durant projected to start at outside cornerback, will Parker provide whoever is facing Nabers with safety help on a down to down basis? It will be a fun matchup to watch all game long.
Now let’s dive into the Cowboys inactives, where there aren’t really a lot of surprises.
Cowboys inactives
- OLB Tyrus Wheat
- WR Camden Brown
- CB Caelen Carson
- RB Israel Abanikanda
- OT Ajani Cornelius
Note: LG Tyler Smith and RB Malik Davis were both placed on Injured Reserve this week and are thus not listed above.
Notes on Cowboys inactive list
- Preseason sensation Camden Brown is a healthy scratch for tonight’s game. It should come as no surprise, given the Cowboys’ talent at the position. Brown will surely get his turn but the coaching staff is favoring experience for now.
- DT Jonathan Bullard carried no game designation and is ACTIVE for the game. The 10-year veteran missed the majority of training camp and the entire preseason due to injury (groin/core).
- With RB Malik Davis out for the year, the Cowboys are going into Week 1 with Javonte Williams, Emari Demercado. Recently signed Israel Abanikanda will be inactive.
