Former Broncos Pro Bowler calls out a respected current Denver player and he was absolutely right
A former Denver Broncos Pro Bowler said what needed to be said, and he was right.
A former Denver Broncos Pro Bowler called out a current Broncos player this week (but he did it from a good place).
And he was right
Last month, Dobbins told a fan that he plans to lead the NFL in rushing yards in 2026.
That’s a bold prediction from a player who hasn’t played a full season in the NFL since he was a rookie in 2020.
But Dobbins is a dynamic player when healthy — he’s capable of achieving such an accomplishment. Staying healthy, though, has been impossible for Dobbins over the last five seasons.
Former Denver running back Phillip Lindsay said in an interview with the Action Network’s Kyle Odegard that Dobbins should focus on staying healthy instead of thinking about leading the NFL in rushing yards.
“I do love the confidence,” said Lindsay. “I don’t think he had to go out there and call his shot like that. But I also understand he’s been hearing this from everybody, from national radio to here in Colorado, that this man can’t stay healthy.
“The truth is, when he is healthy, he’s very productive and really good as a running back. There’s no doubt about that. Last year, my man would have been a top running back in the league because he was in such a groove. But for J.K., talk is cheap at this point. He has to go out there and prove to the world that you truly can stay healthy.”
Lindsay is right — staying healthy needs to be the focus for Dobbins. There’s no need to put the cart before the horse, so to speak.
If he stays healthy, everything else will take care of itself.
