Denver Broncos pass rusher Jonathon Cooper was arrested in relation to two counts of domestic violence.
Reports have emerged that one of the Denver Broncos‘ best defenders, edge defender Jonathon Cooper, was been arrested in relation to an alleged domestic violence incident in Colorado.
Cooper, who is a sixth-year pro, has three years remaining on a four-year, $60 million extension signed with the team in 2024. He reportedly has a hearing scheduled for Friday and another scheduled for Monday. The information about this incident is still emerging, but it is a disheartening turn of events for everyone.

It cannot be stressed enough that due process needs to play out here. The information is still emerging. We do have some details via Broncos beat reporter Mike Klis. Klis has reported that both Cooper and his girlfriend were apprehended in relation to the dispute. Klis, per the arrest affidavit, indicates that both parties got into a physical altercation over Cooper’s cell phone.
Cooper, in the report, is said to have gotten into a ‘physical struggle’ with his girlfriend, ‘grabbed her arm’ and ‘braced his neck against (hers)’ in a struggle over the phone. The dispute is reportedly tied to cheating allegations in Cooper’s relationship with his girlfriend.
The Denver Broncos organization issued a statement in relation to the arrest, stating that they are “aware of the matter and are gathering more information”. More information and due process will hopefully provide additional clarity on the incident. With that said, these are certainly the kinds of headlines that everyone would like to avoid altogether.
