The Detroit Lions’ 2026 schedule will be coming out on Thursday night, and we can’t wait to get some of our questions answered about what the Lions are going to be doing when and who they’re going to be doing it against. Before that, we’re going to predict some of the things about this schedule on Monday. Let’s jump into our first set.

When will the Lions play in Germany?

This one took some detective work. Here’s what we know. The Lions will be playing at Allianz Stadium. The same stadium where Bayern Munich FC plays. That is their building, and they dominate the stadium’s schedule for most of the year. The same thing is true for Berlin, where FC Union Berlin plays.

Because of that, games have been pushed back to November all three years that the NFL has played there. Those games were on November 13th in 2022, November 10th in 2024, and November 9th in 2025. All the games seem to be in that window.

So we’re going to go ahead and predict that things continue to stay that way, the Lions play in Germany on November 8th or November 15th.

Who will the Lions play in Germany?

If you look at the Lions’ schedule, they play against six teams that have marketing rights in Germany. The Falcons, Patriots, Giants, Packers, Panthers, and Buccaneers. We know that the Lions have protected their game against the Packers to make sure it won’t happen in Germany. So rule that one out.

On top of that, the NFL usually tries to keep rivalry games that can be big TV draws away from the international schedule. So take the Buccaneers out of the mix. The Patriots vs Linos game could be so much bigger elsewhere, and the Falcons are playing in Madrid this season.

That leaves the Giants. They’ve always been the team that makes the most sense to play the Lions because while this game could be fun at 8:00 in the morning, it’s not something the NFL would probably want to put on at 8:00 at night.

Who will the Lions end their season with?

Maybe an easier prediction because the NFC North has been so competitive lately. Plus, the Lions have played an NFC North opponent the last 10 years in a row. Six of those were against the Packers. That’s why we’re going to go ahead and say they play the Packers yet again in Week 18, and that game will be at home.

Who do they start the season with?

The Lions have always seemed to start the season off with a big-time team that the NFL is expecting something from. In 2023, they became a big-time team. So, for a change of pace, they start the season off with the team they used to be. Maybe a team that has some parallels to them. I’m going with the Lions, starting the season against the Jets.
