Earlier on Wednesday, we talked about all of the things that the Detroit Lions’ defense needs to do to win the Super Bowl in 2026 by adding up the last eight Super Bowl-winning defenses and averaging out their numbers to see what they have to do statistically.

Defense is big, but I wanted to switch over to offense, where many oddly believe the Lions are being held back by Jared Goff. So we’re going to ruin that same experiment with the last 8 Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks. Here’s what we found.

Alright, now let’s average it out and see what Jared Goff would have to do in 2026 to be a Super Bowl-winning quarterback.

Yeah, man, that’s not a lot. That’s actually extremely doable for Goff. He’s been basically doing this every single year. Look at his 2025 numbers compared to this. And these are with a young, beat-up offensive line and a bad offensive coordinator.

The clear needed fix here is to not get sacked as much. I’d argue that while 38 looks really bad, and it is, but 22 of those 38 sacks came in just five games. The rest of the year wasn’t too bad, and now the Lions have a much better offensive line. I’m not totally sure 26 is achievable in 2026. But it’s not impossible.

Ok, I know what the next move is going to be. “But Goff is not mobile. He can’t run the ball.” The average rushing yards and rushing touchdowns Goff would have to hit are 277 yards and three touchdowns. Goff ran for 45 yards last year. Not a ton. But Stafford and Brady actually had less than that in their Super Bowl-winning years. Most of this is Patrick Mahomes with a tiny sprinkling of Sam Darnold.

At the end of the day, all Goff needs to do is be Jared Goff and just do what he’s done the last four seasons in a row.
